Travel up to Doi Suthep temple, which sits on a hilltop and holds significant religious importance in the region. The entrance features 306 steps lined with nagas, and inside you'll find a copper-based chedi topped with a five-tier gold parasol housing Buddha relics. The return trip takes you back to your hotel for the evening.
After breakfast, drive south toward Doi Inthanon National Park, the country's highest peak at 2,565 meters/8,415 feet. Wind through pine forests, see Thailand's most impressive waterfall, walk nature trails, visit the Royal pagodas, and explore the botanical gardens. Lunch will be at a local restaurant in Mae Chaem (at your own expense), then continue on pine forest roads to Mae Sariang, near the Myanmar border, for your overnight stay.
